Peace and Truth
Peace and Truth
If I asked you all to think of peace, what would spring to mind?
Would the answer be right there or be more difficult to find?
Pressure, sorrow, stress, they're common things with which we're faced,
No wonder Ehrmann wrote of being 'amid the noise and haste.'
Events can be life changing, people put us to the test
But as long as we stay true, it matters not about the rest.
As long as our own conscience doesn't prick us in the night,
We can rest assured and know that everything will be all right.
Everybody makes mistakes, we're human after all
But to hide the truth is criminal, it's heartbreaking and cruel.
It may stay concealed in secrecy at length, I have no doubt
But eventually will be revealed, the truth always comes out.
A plastic reputation is so vehemently protected,
Is this something that ought to be supported and respected?
How would it feel if in reverse, not given, but received,
Not being true and honest but placated and deceived?
Where is strength and honour and why have they been replaced?
It's like they are outdated and considered in poor taste.
But when you are condemned even though you're in the right
It's best to turn and walk away, remove all thoughts of spite.
For when you find that special place, consumed in gentle calm,
It comes from being truthful, where you do others no harm.
There you'll find a joy where all else simply falls away,
So I know that peace and truth will see me through another day.
