Peace and Truth

Peace and Truth If I asked you all to think of peace, what would spring to mind? Would the answer be right there or be more difficult to find? Pressure, sorrow, stress, they're common things with which we're faced, No wonder Ehrmann wrote of being 'amid the noise and haste.' Events can be life changing, people put us to the test But as long as we stay true, it matters not about the rest. As long as our own conscience doesn't prick us in the night, We can rest assured and know that everything will be all right. Everybody makes mistakes, we're human after all But to hide the truth is criminal, it's heartbreaking and cruel. It may stay concealed in secrecy at length, I have no doubt But eventually will be revealed, the truth always comes out. A plastic reputation is so vehemently protected, Is this something that ought to be supported and respected? How would it feel if in reverse, not given, but received, Not being true and honest but placated and deceived? W...

Why Do We Do It?!

It's not all doom and gloom, honest! Here is something I wrote, I think many of us have been here at least once...... Why Do We Do It?! I had to attend the party, to refuse it would be rude Even though the thought of it had put me in a mood. It was their annual party so I guess just once a year I could slap on a smile whilst I guzzled down their beer. I know their neighbour Jim would go, he was a funny chap But his Father always got so drunk he'd want me on his lap! I got out of the car and up the drive I slowly went And was greeted by son David who thought he was heaven sent. "Have a tasty vol au vent, they're really quite terrific," I bit into the flaky mess which actually was horrific! I chewed a bit and suddenly the mass began to clog, I spat it out and luckily along came David's dog. Oh this is going well, why had I been so apprehensive? And then I saw old Mr Roberts on the charm offensive. I needed a stiff drink and I wasn't fussed which one But all...

The Journey

The Journey Very early on in life her innocence was shattered, Treated like it was a dream and that none of it mattered. Neglected and ignored whenever was decided, Stripped of every confidence which left her heart divided. She had a sense of panic and an overwhelming doubt, A sadness and a fear that remained with her throughout. Life was very painful then, the boundaries had been set, That time would have an impact that she never would forget. Where was her security, assurance and respect? They were the very things that she learnt not to expect. She was different from her peers or at least that's how she felt, She couldn't hold the devastating cards that she'd been dealt. She left the family home just as quickly as she could, Escaped from the trauma that had scarred her childhood. As the years went by she expected nothing less, Drawn to all the people that would add to her distress. She was desperate to believe that their love was real and true, Confirming that she had a...
Here's a poem I'd like to share with you , just some thoughts of mine..... The world is such a confusing place I'm not afraid to say, I wonder if I'll ever understand it all some day. We're on this Earth together but there is a huge divide. Imagine what we could create if we were unified. Children would be innocent and grow in love and care Knowing that no matter what they'd all have someone there, Be treated with respect and shown love and true affection, Secure in school and given its unyielding safe protection. People's mental health would be supported by us all, There'd be no shame or stigma, they'd be able to walk tall To share their thoughts with confidence and learn that there is hope, Knowing that there'll come a day when they will truly cope. There'd be no drugs like heroin to reap so readily, We'd see the world recuperate and improve steadily. No-one would use alcohol to numb a troubled mind, They would reach out and realise th...

Thank You

She leaned back in the chair and released the biggest sigh And as she turned her head an angry tear fell from her eye. Her heart was oh so heavy from the pain that she had seen But she dared not show her feelings from behind the safety screen. Her hands were dry and rough with some fingers red and cracked, So very tight and painful from the moisture that they lacked. All that careful cleansing had left its angry mark, The reason for such cleanliness was oh so grave and stark. Every day was different and yet every day the same; People suffering, dying, the only difference was their name. She was tired beyond measure and her heart was truly breaking, This was the very worst, of that there was just no mistaking. How could anyone explain just what had come to be? You only had to look at her, the signs so clear to see. That year she went to hell and back, a wealth of hurt and strife, Countless months of misery and pain had scarred her life. She thought about the milestone of 100,000 l...
